i hope this is all , my only transport an its running like shit..

please help
tell me i dont need to get into the jets>>>>

ANSWER: Derek, You may not have to. A business aquaintance and I have run into this before. Heres a little secret. The pipes do need a baffel to keep the noise down and break up the exhaust pulse which helps scavage out the heat and fumes. We have put a lot of V-twins on a dyno and out smarted the computer by putting different sized screwdrivers or pry bars across the ends of the pipes and it made them run better. All we were doing was sizind the size if nut and bolt we could put into the main exhaust pipe to break up the pulse. Alot of time it was only a 1/2 nut.
We woumasue in about to where the baffel started and drill a 3/8 hole in the under side to hide the bolt and put the mut on the inside of the pipe and tighten it up and the bike ran better. Could you get me some more info on the S&S motor size, year, carb set up, maybe the pipes if its cammed ect. My friend has been featured in the S&S motor catalog because he is doing things with these motors they say cant be done.Get me some more info and Ill see what I can find out.

top end s&s
what do you mean by carb setup?
and vance and hines 2 into one megaphone style.
if i do need new jets which do you think, mid?
AND ONE LAST THING///// CAN RUNNING WITH NO BAFFLE AND A SHORT IN MY IGNITION COIL FUCK UP ANYTHING OR WILL IT JUST PISS ME OFF?????

Answer
Derek the coils very seldom go bad however not impossible. Some bike shops and even lawn mower shops have a coil tester which powers up the coil and fires it untill it quits under a load. If its ok some bikes run drag pipes which have no baffels so you should be ok. Think of the motor as a air pump that just opened up the out let of air. So an increase of fuel is in order to keep the same air-to-fuel ratio. The term cammed just means that the original cams may have been changed out for aftermarket performance enhancing parts.
