Motorcycle Repair: bike reves up high., honda ct, carborator

Question
I have a 1970 honda ct-90 and when it starts it reves up really high and if I put the choke on it dies off, I have taken apart the carborator and cleaned it many times and adjusted everything in that area. the throddle has no controll at all. It is as if the engine just stays open to gas all the way all the time. what can I do, or do I need a new carb or a carb kit? any help would be most apprieciated.

Answer
The carb slide could be in backwards and holding it open. It probable starts hard but once it does it wont slow down. Try putting the groove cut in the slide on the side towards the brass pin that is put in the slide bore for locating purposes put all back togethor the try the twist throttle ans see if there is a little slack in the cable as you turn the throttle. You should feel the carb slide resistance.
