Motorcycle Repair: oil change, yamaha xs750, dip stick

I have a 1978 Yamaha xs750 and i would like to give it an oil change. I have never changed the oil on motorcycles and would just like to know how many quarts they are suppose to hold.

My books on motorcycle data dont go back to that year,the closest I can get is 86 and it shows 3.4 qts with oil filter change. Put in at least 3 qts and start the bike let it idle for a minute then shut if off. The bike must be level maybe on the center stand finish topping it off by checking the dip stick. I dont believe it has the sight glass yet. Dont overfill it as the oil in the trans is the same in the crank area and will beat the oil into a foam and cause other problems.
