do i have to take the engine out to take the heads off? to replace the valves.

????  I didn't take any questions from you last night. I went back through all of my recent questions and answers and don't have any reference to you or your question. So, I don't know how to answer your question, because I don't know what you are working on.

If it happens to be a Honda and it happens to be either CB350F, CB400F, CB500-550F then you are in luck. The heads will come off of those bikes, with the motor in the chassis.

As a general rule, most motors do have to come out of the chassis for head removal and valve services.
