Motorcycle Repair: kink in timing chain, poway california, yamaha dealer

Question
hey, i have a 2004 yamaha ttr125le several  months ago i accidentally stripped the spark plug hole and was forced to pull the motor and the head and have it sent in to be machined, after the threads were fixed i began attempting to reinstall it ( had to pull of the timing chain and sprockets etc.) i went to align the timing marks and was unable to turn the crankshaft in either position more than 1 inch to be able to align it properly, after that i, proceeded to take off the whole cylinder in order to check the timing chain and noticed that it is kinked and is causing the crankshaft to be unable to move. i tried to wiggle, shake, pull, push and tug the timing chain with various picks and other small tools and have had no look freeing it. i was hoping maybe somebody would have advice

Answer
You have probably done what most of us would have done. If ie wont unkink pull the lower end side cover it may be caught in the chain guide behind the flywheel if its damaged the get a new one and save yourself some grief down the road. You may get it running again but if the chain breaks in the damaged area while running it will grenade the valves and head and piston and so on.Check with Albaaction.com the yamaha dealer in Poway California and it might show you the chain and cost about 27.00 to 28.00.
