Motorcycle Repair: drownded honda, honda cr 250, stroke oil

Question
i have a 1987 honda cr 250 2- stroke and when last riding i mitakenly got my bike almost completly covered in water and had to drag it out, anyways the result of this has left the motor pretty much stuck. how can i get the bike back unstuck and running again?

Answer
I have done this before riding the arkansas river. Pull the spark plug and drain the oil from transmission.Stand bike on rear wheel and suspend the front wheel up and try to get all the water out of the exhaust pipe. If the gasket is bad on the left side cover pull it and dry the stator area. Try to rotate the motor over by hand. The air filter will need to be removed and checked for dryness. Also turn fuel off at the petcock and open the drain screw on the bottom of the carb.Once this all has been done, install freshly oiled air filter.Put in fresh transmission oil put the stator cover back on. turn fuel back on and let run out of carb a little then close the drain. Put about a teaspoon of 2 stroke oil in the spark plug hole. Take a new spark plug and place in wire and ground the body of plug on engine. Turn over engine with the kick starter. If you have spark its getting there. Install the spark plug choke the barb and try to start the bike and heat it up to operating temp then shut off and change the transmission oil again to get any remaining moisture out. Put new oil back in and you should  be ready to rip it up again.
