Motorcycle Repair: repair, flapper valve, breather valve

Question
hey its not really a motorcycle but i thought you could still help me i have a 2005 yard machine riding mower that when you start it, it blows oil out through the carb

Answer
Hi Joseph,

I am not sure which engine you have but
probably a Tecumseh or Briggs.

You will have to check the engine breather
valve. This valve is a simple rubber flapper valve, that
over time, can break off or become brittle and non-sealing.
Engine pressures may be blowing the oil out your carb.

It may be part of the top cover on the engine
and you may have to replace the whole cover and
the gasket.

Another possibility is overfilled with oil
or engine cylinder and ring or valve guide wear.

Good luck!
