Motorcycle Repair: 02 883, rocker boxes, pushrods

Question
He Mike. Came across your site and hoped you could help. I bought a 883 and decided to paint and powdercoat both primary cover and cam cover. Also painting top rocker covers.  Question is, I tackled removing the primary cover. But it looks as if there will not be enough room to remove the rear rocker cover. Does the engine need dropped? Or, will it come out?  Next, question. Is it possible to remove the cam cover without disturbing camshaft alignment? Is there a "sweet spot in the rotating assy that will allow removal?

Thank you
Kyle

Answer
the rocker boxes will come off, Its jsut a tight fit and takes a little moving around. On the cam cover you have to remove the rocker boxes so there is no pressure on the pushrods or you can get the cam ocver off, but you will never get it back on.

Good luck and happy riding
Mike
