Motorcycle Repair: 65 160 Throttle, sediment bowl, vent hole

Question
Hello Bill..

here is my problem.. i rode my cb160 all summer long, granted I had some
condensor issues that i fixed, gapped my plugs, adjsuted my timing.. etc...

now... a few weeks ago I was riding and all of the sudden my bike started
dying while riding...  it starts great, idles great, then when i jump on it put it
in gear and go..it doesn't go.. it just sounds like its running out of gas,  IT
WAS RUNNING LIKE A TOP then.... poof..   what do you think?

Answer
David....  Look at the tiny vent hole in the edge of the gas cap, just outside of the gasket area. If plugged up fuel flow will be reduced/stopped.

You may also have to check the petcock sediment bowl/screen for debris and/or remove the petcock to see if rust/dirt has accumulated in the bottom of the petcock body where reserve port is located.

As long as it is tuned up and running well, in idle/low speed conditions, then you have fuel flow problems.. unless you have a dying battery/charging system...
