Motorcycle Repair: lower cases, cracked case, tappet

Question
We have a cracked case by the tappet block. Someone told me there were a few years that the cases were somewhat defective and cracked easy, so Harley would replace them for free. Is 1990 one of those years?

Answer
In 1989 they did have a problem with cases, but it was where the motor sprocket was and it had a leak. Other than that I have not heard of a problem. Even if they did and were replacing them at one time they wouldnt now. Its been 20 years
