Motorcycle Repair: tires, rule of thumb, sportster 1200

mike, i have a 2001 hd sportster 1200 custom, approx, what is the rule of thumb on mileage on a set of tires, i hear between 7000 and 10,000 miles is, what is your opinion, my still look good i have approx 6000 miles  on this set of tires and i keep them properly inflated, thanx, dennis kranes

There is really no rule of thumb for tires. Harder the compound int he tire the longer it will last. It also has to do with weight on the tire and riding style as well as keeping them properly inflated. If you still have good tread on the tires then you would be fine
