Motorcycle Repair: 83 VT750C Fuel Shutoff Relay, fuel pump relay, bill silver

Question
My bike has sat for a few years. I'm trying to bring it back to life. Checking voltage going to the fuel pump i see 3.8ish volts and no fuel flow. When I check the Fuel Shutoff Relay with switch on I see 12v on two input leads and 0v at the output. When Starter is depressed I see 3.8 volts on one input and output. Im not sure what im suppose to see but 3.8 seems awful low to drive the fuel pump.

Answer
Tom, try bypassing the fuel pump relay so the pump gets a full 12v to the input line. The pump is 12v rated. Honda did set them up to basically refill the bowls after short intervals, but it doesn't stay on until the carbs are full, if they are empty.

The starter button energizes the relay momentarily, then when the engine is running the pump gets power from a shared coil connection, as I recall.

You are right... 3.8v is not enough.
