Motorcycle Repair: Honda C72E, replacement frame, restoration guides

Question
We have found an old Honda C72E. It's remarkably complete. We can see the engine number but at present cannot see the frame number because of rust pitting.

Where EXACTLY should we be looking? Is it on the headstock and do we have to take off the forks in order to read it?

Thanks

Answer
Gordon, the frame number is stamped down on the left side of the frame, behind the engine, where the footpeg bracket bar mounts to the frame.  Usually covered in dirt and grease, but it is there, unless it was a replacement frame with no numbers re-stamped.

I have restoration guides on CD for this bike.
