Motorcycle Repair: spark issues, loose wire, loose connection

Hi Mike,
I have a 1994 1200 Sportster.  New Battery,new coil,why am I getting 9 volts on the positive side of the coil?  What should I check?

If you are showing 12 volts at the battery and only 9 volts at the coil, with just the key on then you need to follow the power from the battery to the coil. Check all the connections and see where your power drop is. You will probably either have a loose connection or loose wire.
