Motorcycle Repair: test coil on twin cam, bank angle, mike thanks

Question
QUESTION: hi
Have a 2002 twin cam softail.
Has no spark. I have 12 volts going to the coil and the ignition module is pulsing, therefor I asssume that the sender is working?
What is the best way to check that the coil is getting power to either side and also what is the best way to test the coil to see if that's at fault.
I have an altmann p3 box that powers the coil and they told me how to check that and it seems ok.
The rest of the system is stock
Thanks for your time
Bob

ANSWER: Carberated or injected?

QUESTION: Hi Mike
Thanks for quick response.
It is carb. What I would like is to be able to check a coil off of the bike to see if it is okay. Is there a way of doing this with a meter
Thanks
Bob

Answer
You can test the coil, but that in not going to be the problem. Coils wear out slowly over time. They just dont go out. You bike would start running badly while the coil is going out. your problem is either going to be the bank angle senser, the cam position senser or the ECM itself. the problem is you are not going to have the proper equipment to test them. You would have to have a shop do a dianostic on the systems
Good luck and happy riding
