Motorcycle Repair: cb350 guide blade, little chunks, chain assembly

Question
So I changed the oil in my 1973 cb350 and noticed little chunks of my guide blade in the oil.  I filled it back up with oil and did a complete tune up and paid particular attention to the cam chain adjustment.  The bike was running very bad before the oil change and couldn't figure out why until the discovery in the old oil.  It runs very well now but am curious as to how important it is to tear it down to replace the guide blade.  I obviously really don't want to since just getting it out of the frame is a huge hassle.  Is it like an appendix or should I really replace it?  If so, would the racing cam chain assembly sold by M3 Racing be a good replacement since to my understanding stock is crap anyway?

Answer
Kenneth, the camchain guide/tensioner is a critical component in controlling camchain whip inside the cylinder block. This is not something like an appendix. It is not an option to keep running the bike with a broken guide/tensioner. The part is now 37 years old and is past due to be replaced. The M3 tensioner assembly might be a good choice to replace the OEM parts with, indeed.
