Motorcycle Repair: 2003 harley night train fuel problem, fuel pressure gage, mechanical wonder

Question
QUESTION: 2003 standard stock 100 year anniversary night train with no part adds or changes was running fine. Sputter or backfire previously once in a while, bogged down when applying throttle, starved for fuel then quit. Starts again haphazerdly then starves and quits after moving bike or resting. Gas was added 5 weeks ago to 3/4 tank, driven now to 1/2 tank; just started to happen after riding it 40 minutes before problem started. I have never drained for winter and have always rode the bike aproximately 2 times each month during winter to keep lubricated, and always kept some fuel in but low amounts when not riding in winter much to have fuel changed monthly. I am non mechanical. Wonder if gas can be problem or fuel filter, and if there can be a gas additive or easy way to drain and refuel, and/ or easy way to change, clean, or test fuel filter or other recommendations you have. If so can you walk me through what to use or how to drain and check and/or clean myself.  Thanks mike.

ANSWER: Is it fuel injected or carberated?

QUESTION: Mike, night train is fuel injected. thanks

Answer
First thing you need to do is determine if your fuel pump is working and pumping up. You would have to purchace a fuel pressure gage from harley to tell that or you can have it done at a shop. If you have pressure, but no fuel then you need to check the filter. to drain the tank you need to siphen the gas out then remove the crossover live and catch the rest of the gas. then remove the center cover of the tank and remove the filter. You can see if in the tank.
Good luck and happy riding
