Motorcycle Repair: oil pouring out of the breather vent line, breather vent, vent line

early 1985 flht,bike has been sitting since 2004.put new battery in, it started right up,but oil was pouring out of the breather tube,all over the floor.Is something stuck?

Answer
No, nothing is stuck. The oil tank sits higher than the motor. There is a check valve in the oil pump to keep oil out of the bottom end when the bike is not running. Sitting like that, oil has weeped past the ball and into the bottom end. When you started the bike the oil pump cant pump it back fast enough so it goes out the breather tube. Start the bike and let it run and it will clear itself
