Motorcycle Repair: twinstar, brake light switch, lighting circuit

Question
Bill, thanks for previous help. In regards to the front brake light switch.....I couldn't locate it...because the previous owner had removed the micto switch at the end of the lever. I have since obtained the switch but have no idea where to connect the two wires coming from it. I assu,e one would be a ground. I do have a wiring diagram but I am unsure of the color scheme and it is confusing. Any idea or a simple way to locat where I should make the connection? 1978 Twinstar 185

Answer
Allan, the leads on the brake light switch are only so long... they connect with matching wires inside the headlight shell or just behind it. Remove the headlight bulb and check the wiring connections inside.

The black one is HOT and the other one feeds back to the tail light bulb, containing the brake light filament. The tail light bulb base and socket provides the ground to complete the lighting circuit. It is a parallel circuit to the rear brake light switch.
