Motorcycle Repair: harley ignition coil problems--95 sportster, ohm meter, plug wires

Question
Motorcycle has been running good. Last time i tried to crank, it was hard to crank. Finally crank, went 1/2 mile and it died. Pushed it home,2 days later checked for fire from coil. Very weak and intermit on both sides. Occasionally sparks hard, but seldom. Mostly none to weak fire at best.Plugs have been burning good and clean. How do you check the ignition coil? Any other suggestions?

Answer
Remove the coil. Test at the small wires with a OHm meter and you should get around 3.5 OHMs. Test at the posts where the plug wires go in and you should get around 16,000 OHMs. If the coil fails the you need a new one
Good luck and happy riding
