Motorcycle Repair: Break Light, suzuki model, stop lamp

Question
Hello Deron, I have a 1983 GS1100ES Suzuki model. On the speedometer it has one indicator light for Tail/Stop. This has come on since I just got the bike back from service and the bike was sitting for a years and now runs great. I checked the rear tail and the running light was on but the break light was burned out. I replaced the bulb with the correct one and the stop lamp just stays on. I checked the operation of the rear break and it appears that is working correctly and it pulls on a spring to work the stop lamp, nothing seems to be wrong with the back break. should I be focused on a switch for the front break lever or from sitting for a year am I having a break issue it seems to roll freely and the bike is is fantastic shape and has been stored correctly. Thanks for you assistance.

Answer
Joe,
The brake lite switches are what you need to check...they should have no continuity between the wires until you apply either the front or back break...unplug your switches and check them one at a time with a meter...you should find a bad switch..if not then get back to me and we can work through the wires
