Question
Hi Deron,

I am having some problems with my CBR and hope you can point me in the right direction. I recently had my bike resprayed including the tank and all fairings. When i removed the tank it was flushed with water.
After rebuilding the bike it i put 5 litres of fuel in and took it for a ride with no problems.
After filling it up however, the bike will ride for half a mile and start misfiring eventually cutting out altogether.

After checking the fuel cap and all hoses it was advised by a friend that there may be water in the carbs possible left over from flushing the tank.
Is there any other way of rectifying this problem without removing the carbs, or could it be something else altogether.

Many thanks

John

Answer
John,

Cant say that I know a lot about the CBR's , other than they are fast..lol.  See if the carbs have small drain screws on the sides or bottoms of the float bowls, if they do, drain them...put some dry gas in the tank, but be sure not to "overdo" it..One bottle generally treats 20 gallons so adjust your dosage accordingly.  If your bike has recently been apart(for the re-spray) make sure that they havent pinched any cables and possible pulled your chokes on to some degree...

Wish I could help you more
