Motorcycle Repair: 73 sportster oil out breather tube, crankcase breather, breather tube

Question
I have a 73 sportster that i have rebuilt. it now has about 2800 miles on it. I have ported and punched it out 20 over. I have recently noticed (once bike is warmed up) that at idle there is a misting spray of oil coming out of the crankcase breather tube. I was told this can happen in high compression motors but i can not determine what is causing this. The bike runs fine but still concerned. any input would be greatly appreciated.  thanks   shawn

Answer
Your having blowby out the breather. You never said what cams you have, but if you really have a high lift cam you can have this problem. You can connect a hose to the vent and run it back to the rear of the bike and that will keep the oil off your motor
Good luck and happy riding
