Motorcycle Repair: 93 1200c Sportster, keihen, spring tuneup

Question
Hello and thank you in advance for reading my problem. My 93 1200 was put away last fall without draining the gas from the tank and carb, and no stabalizer added.
This spring after doing a spring tuneup consisting of new plugs changing oil and filter, and draining the gas, the  bike will not stay running once the choke is off.  As well it is leaking gasoline from the overflow hose coming off the carb.
I suspect that I will need to get a carb kit for it, and was wondering, what was the stock carb for the 1200 in 93?
The other question was if what I suspect is wrong is accurate and a carb kit is the best way to go.
It will start just fine, and run as long as the choke is on, but push it in, and she dies right out.

Thank you again for your help

Cindy

Answer
Sounds like you have got some material stuck in between the needle and seat in your carb that it probably what is causing the carb overflow. Your bike came stock with a keihen CV carb. You won't need a carb kit to fix this problem just remove the carb and take the bowl off and then remove the pin on the float and the needle will come out with the float. Then clean out the seat area with carb cleaner then compressed air. While you have it apart remove the low speed jet and ensure it is not plugging with varnish then blow out all air passages. Now put it all back together but before you reinstall the carb on the bike remove the intake manifold and change the seals on the compliance fitting at the ends of the intake manifold where they mount to the heads as their probably leaking and this is what is causing you to have to run the bike with the enrichner partly out. Hope this helps you out.
