Motorcycle Repair: Oil plug - allen screw 4/19/09, oil drain plug, allen screw

Question
QUESTION: I pulled out the same allan screw as Ray did in his question about finding the oil drain plug 4/19/09.  What was that screw and what did it drain.  Can we just put it back in or does it need teflon tape or something when putting it back in?  I want to make sure I did not drain my transmission or primary or something else.
thank you
JD

ANSWER: If it was on the bottom of the case, then it was just a case drain. Put some tape on it and put it back in.

QUESTION: Thank you Mike.  Regarding that Set screw / drain plug. It was to the rear of the transmission plug same side and on the bottom surface pointing straight down from what I thought was the oil pan but it could've been the transmission pan. But it is the only plug like it on the transmission plug side.  What oil was it draining (engine, transmission or primary oil)? Since I will be refilling the transmission fluid and motor oil as long as it's not somehow connected to draining the primiary oil I would be okay.
Thank you,
JD

Answer
The trans plug is close tot he right side of the pan and the motor oil plug is close to the front ont he left. Check the level of both and you will be able to tell what has drained. Its not the primary. It is located on the primary side at the bottom of the primary cover
