Motorcycle Repair: Triple Tree assembly, sportster 883, dust shield

I own a 97 sportster 883. It was wrecked when i bought it. I need to know exact order on how to assemble bearings and triple tree.

Answer
On the lower tree install the dust shield and then the tapered bearing. Make sure you grease both bearings. Slide it up through the neck. If you are installing new bearing cups, install them before sliding the tree up. Once you have the tree up through he neck install the other bearing and the dust shield and tighten the nut. Tighten the nut until you have no play and the front end rotates without binding or feeling tight. Tighten the lock bolt
