Motorcycle Repair: 1972 SL350 points/timing, point gap, gapping

Question
I am in the final stages of my restoration, and I put new points on the bike.  I followed the gapping (0.012-0.016" spec) and timing sequence ("LF" and "F" marks, etc.).  The problem is that, in the last step, when I adjust the right point to achieve current at the "F" mark, the right point ends up being at about 0.019" in order to achieve the correct timing (left point is at about 0.012").  What gives?  Any advice is much appreciated.

Answer
Kevin, the points that are mounted directly to the plate are adjusted by using the plate but the other points you'll adjust the point gap to get the timing right.  On later years, they put an additional adjuster plate on the points to address this problem on some engines but it's not a big deal.  The point gap just determines how long the coils will charge before the points open.  Getting them close is good enough.
