Motorcycle Repair: 1986 honda shadow clutch not disengaging, port holes, honda shadow

Question
Ok , My clutch seems to be not disengaging . it is a 1986 vt1100c  . when i started out to work monday it seemed like it didnt want to engage , when I stopped for traffic leaving my drive way I pulled in the clutch and it felt " funny" ( kinda hard at the bottom end of the stroke )  well when I relaesed the clutch NOTHING it didnt even want to try and move . I have since bleed and changed the fluid , removed and inspected the slave , looked at the clutch ( not sure what I was realy looking for ) the slave was dirty , it had some grud in it so i cleaned it and reinstalled it .......... But alas nothing . hell I even changed the oil thinkin maybe it was to full or the oil was bad ? any Ideas ? could it be the master cylinder ?

Thanks Bryan

Answer
Bryan, the master cylinder for the clutch is really no different than that for the brakes on the bike or a car. When the pressure cups are worn or harden, then you get a fluid bypass and loss of pressure to the slave cylinder.

There are some bleed port holes in the floor of the master cylinder that need to be clean and clear for normal fluid transfer. After 23 years, I think a repair kit would be in order for your bike's master cylinders.
