Motorcycle Repair: 1986 Aspencade alternator, conventional incandescent bulbs, duty alternator

Question
The added load of sidecar lights (two headlights, two tail-lights and turnsignals on sidecar) seem to be too much for the standard alternator.  Alternator seems to work OK and charge properly with side-car lights disconnected.  Are there alternative lights that draw less current than conventional incandescent bulbs, or do I need a larger, heavy-duty alternator?  If I have to go with an alternator replacement, is one available?  Would a later model 1500 alternator help and/or fit?

Answer
Rick, there isn't a high output alternator option that I'm aware of.  I'd looking into replacing as many lights with LED lights and see if that doesn't help.  You may also want to put some kind of a switch in the side car harness so you can reduce the load as needed.
