Motorcycle Repair: 1980 Honda CX500C, rectifier unit, regulator rectifier

Question
I have a charging problem and I need to know if there is solution without completely taking the motor out to get to the stator.  You can charge it and run a couple of days but then have to charge again which isn't good for batteries.
Please help with anything.
Thanks in advance,
Tom

Answer
If it's the stator, you have to pull the motor. You can check it by measuring the resistance between the three yellow wires.  They should have equal resistance and no continuity to ground.  If that checks out, you're looking for something else.  Probably the regulator rectifier unit.
