Motorcycle Repair: removel of rear wheel, honda elite, honda info


Question
Replacing the rear tire on a 1986 Honda Elite 150 deluxe.Which side of the scooter do I need to start taking off to get the tire and rim off? Any tricks or special tools that I will need to get before I start? Plus how do I go about changing the transmission fluid? Thanks for your time.    Wayne

To remove the rear wheel, you have to remove the muffler, lock the rear wheel with the parking brake and have a big socket and breaker bar to remove the axle nut. Air tools are a good idea. If the wheel keeps turning, you can often put a long bar through the wheel holes and anchor it into the drive case. There is some oil in the drive case, but no real transmission oil.  The drive case has a drain plug and you have to fill it up through a tiny filler plug hole until the oil starts coming out of the filler hole.
