Motorcycle Repair: 1982 Honda Magna not wanting to start., 1982 honda magna, fuel filter

Question
I just got a 1982 Honda Magna. It ran fine the night when I got it. I got up the next day and went out to go for a ride and it wouldn't start it just sits there and cranks. It has a new fuel pump, spark plugs that are about 2 months old. I replaced the fuel filter just incase but nothing. I put in fresh gas also.

Answer
Martin, I've said this before but bears repeating in this case.  An engine needs three things to run, fuel, spark and compression. It sounds like you have fuel, so you need to confirm spark and compression.  Pull the plugs and lay them up against the head and crank the engine over to confirm the plugs are firing.  If you don't have spark, you need to check to be sure you have power to the coils, the spark boxes and the coils.
