Motorcycle Repair: Modern Oils, vintage honda, cam area

Question
On a site i saw a vintage honda, the owner said it had 300k mi, and he uses Mobil C7e... or some thing. i toy with useing synthetics like mobil, or royal purple. valvoline has high miles oils. is it just a matter of, do i want to spend the money, or should i use traditional oils? i would like to have my 78 750k with 23k mi last, i want to do the best thing for my "classic".

Answer
Dan, there are oils that can extend engine life dramatically, I know Valvoline used to make an oil that had anti friction additive that prevented a new engine from properly breaking in properly.  Cummins used to recommend the use of blue only after the engine was broken in.  I think if you stay with a high quality oil and change it regularly, it won't make a lot of difference.  I use Honda oil and I have about 47,000 on my V65 and it looks great in the valve and cam area and it runs good too.
