Motorcycle Repair: 1967 Honda CL77 head light case problems, wire hook, meter lamp

Question
Hi Bill,
I am trying to match up my CL77 wiring to the CL72-I Wiring Diagram on page 32 of your CL77 restoration guide and have two questions. 1) I have a green wire coming off of the headlight, but your diagram just shows the red and the blue wires. Where does the green wire hook into the wiring system? 2) I do not see the high beam lamp connection on the diagram, just the "meter lamp" and the Neutral lamp, but there are the three different lamp locations on my speedo and headlight case. Can you tell me which wires go where?

Answer
Phil, the green wires from the headlight bulb are ground. One attaches to the tab on the headlight rim and then plugs into the harness ground.

Pre-64 Honda twins did not have a high beam indicator when produced. The wiring harness diagrams date from 1962 and were not updated. The high beam indicator lamp wire plugs into the blue double connector from the headlight bulb.
