Motorcycle Repair: Engine, compression pistons, crane hi

Question
I noticed my bike (1994 FLSTN)was leaking oil between the jugs and the case. I tore the engine down to replace the gaskets, should I have the jugs honed with new rings or can it go back together? I was even thinking about putting in a higher compression pistons. Should I have the heads reworked or should I get performance heads. The moter has a S&S carb Andrews EV56 cam and a Crane HI-4 ignition.

Answer
Any time you pull the jugs you should hone and re-ring. Since your bike is a 94 you need to mic the cylinders to make sure you dont need the next size bigger piston.
If you go with higher compression pistons, depending ont he compression, you might have to get a higher torque starter. Stock one might not turn it over. Performance heads will raise the horsepwer and torque on the motor and make it breath better.
Good luck and happy riding
