Motorcycle Repair: Honda 1983 gl650 silverwing, brake calipers, fork seal

Question
Hello, I have recently changed the front brake pads on my bike and not when I tighten up the caliper on the bracket and fork tube it drags on the rotor. When I do the one on the other side it makes it so the front tire will not even spin. It looks to me that the inboard pad is to thick and is not allowing any movement. Is this possible? I have asked the supplier if there are different thickness of pads and they said no. Thanks

Answer
I think you will find the pistons in the brake calipers are stuck.  They will get a varnish build up between the piston and the o-ring that binds up the piston.  If you can't push the piston into their bore with a reasonable force with your fingers, the pistons are binding.  Also I've seen the slider pins bind up the calipers with rust or that have swelled up due to being exposed to oil like a bad front fork seal.
