QuestionQUESTION: Random engine missing.New plugs gapped at 040,new battery,good high octane fuel,clean air filter. Motorcycle has 18,000 mi and well kept. Any Suggestions?
ANSWER: When you say it misses, when does it do it? reving it up, riding at one speed, at all speeds, at idle? When you pulled the plugs, what color were they?

QUESTION: Engine will misfire when easing through the gears.It does not do this with rapid acceleration.It will also do this in high gear at normal speed.The miss is not constant.It almost acts like the ignition is being switched off for a split second. The spark plugs were light brown in color.All battery connections are clean and tight.All wiring appears to be in excellent shape,plug wires included.
AnswerCheck for a intake leak with carb cleaner. Warm the bike up and spray a little carb cleaner around the intake. If the RPMs go up, you have a leak. Also, if that is ok, then you need to do a bleed down test to see if you have a leaking valve
