Question
I was ginen A 92 GSXR 750 and have restored almost all of the bike, I have NO emission eqp. for the bike. How is the best way to bypass the emissions? It seems my idle is very high and power erratic at lower RPM~s.

Answer
Hi Roy...
Sounds like you may have an open vacuum hose. When you say that you have no emission equipment, I assume you are talking about the EVAP and related hoses. All that extra emission stuff was found only on California emission models (and possibly European ones, but I'm not familar with European models)As far as I remember, the only problem with bypassing the emission systems is making sure there are no open vacuum lines. An open vacuum port or hose will allow too much air to enter one of the cylinders and in essence, it will cause that cylinder to run lean. Begin by checking all 4 intake boots and see if there is a nipple with out a hose on it. If so, attach a small vacuum hose to it and plug it with a screw or small bolt. Also, if your bike has a Mikuni carb rack, look for an open nipple on the top of each carb, just forward of the top of the CV slides. Man... how come no one ever gives me a cool bike like that? LOL. Lastly, I would suggest getting a Clymer manual for your bike (if ya don't already have one). The manual will help you to locate those vacuum port nipples I described. Good Luck and ride safe Roy!!
