Motorcycle Repair: punched out baffles., performance changes, sorry one

Question
QUESTION: I punched holes in the baffles on my 06 883l. The baffles are in there, just with three holes in them, maybe 3/8 wide. They sound great and so far I have noticed no performance changes. What are some things I need to be listening for or checking on to make sure she's running good?

ANSWER: Pull your spark plugs and see what color they are. If they are white then you need to rejett the carb as you are running to lean
Good luck and happy riding

QUESTION: I pulled them and the were kinda grey. A little burn around the tip. Not really white. Think I'm good? Also, are the plugs a sure fire way to tell if a bike is running rich or lean? One more. I changed the oil over to mobil 1 when I punched out the baffles. I have heard that mobil 1 makes the bike take longer to warm up, is this a fact? The bike when I first start riding it dies sometimes when I'm coming up to a stop. Is this the pipes, the oil or the fact that is is getting colder and therefore making the bike take longer to warm-up? Sorry one more, what damage can occur if your running lean, and what other than the plugs is a sign? Thanks for the answers.

Answer
The plugs are the best way for you to tell. The only other way is to check the exhaust coming out for air and you probably dont hae the equipment for that. Your plugs sound fine
Synethic oil does make a bike run cooler, so it does take a little more time to warm up.
Running lean can cause the bike to run hotter and if its runnig to lean you can burn a valve.
Good luck and happy riding
