Motorcycle Repair: clutch cable replacement, clutch lever, clutch cable

Question
I have a 2002 Road King FLHR.  Would like to put a braided steel cable on but don't know the steps to replace it.

Answer
Go to the adjuster and loosen it so you have alot of slack in the cable. Remove the pin that hold it to the clutch lever. There is a clip on the bottom of the pin. Drain the trans fluid. Remove the end cover of the trans where the cable go into. You might have to remove the exhaust if it is in the way. Look inside the cover and you will see how the cable is attached. remove the old cable and install the new one and put the cover back on with a new gasket. reattach the cable to the clutch lever and aadjust so you have about 1/8 inch play in the lever and fill the trans
Good luck and happy riding
