Motorcycle Repair: 02 Road King Whinning, cam bearings, big bore kit

Question
QUESTION: I have a 02 Road King Firefighter edition with the 95 big bore kit installed.  I recently had the 15000 mile service completed and noticed while riding back from New York this past weekend that there is a whinning sound during acceleration.  The whine stops when you pull the clutch in or when you are sitting in neutral.  What might be causing this whinning sound? Thanks, ED

ANSWER: Can you give tell me about where the noise sounds like its coming from? Top end, bottom end, left or right side? Does it do it when you are sitting still and just reving the motor?

QUESTION: I cant really tell where it is coming from. It only does it during acceleration not at idle or when the clutch is pulled in. It also does it through all the gears during acceleration. Thanks Ed

Answer
Without knowing where is coming from it could be anything from a cam bearing going out to just a trans whine. I would change the trans fluid and see if that stops the noise. If it doenst, then I would have the cam bearings checked
Good luck and happy riding
