Motorcycle Repair: 1991 fatboy, valve lifter, fresh oil

Question
Hey Mike , I've noticed you  are  amazing at the whole  Harley thing so I have a question for you. I have a 1991 fatboy I just bought. It had 10,500  original miles on it. I just made a 1600  miles trip to sturgis , on fresh oil , and primary  oil.Since I've been back I have a ticking in the cylinders , a few times it has sounded like someone dropped marbles in the cylinders , but I shut it down and start it up and runs fine. Also , a few times the power  pretty  much dies as if the the bike isn't  firing.........  I'm at a loss , a bad valve , lifter , rocker arm ??  By the way no problems on the trip with the engine at all......so kinda at a loss........

thanx Ty

Answer
There is a screen for the lifters to keep dirt out of them. Looking at the cam cover it is a screw above the cam cover to the left. Unscrew it  and pull the screen out. It might be dirty. If its clean and you still have to problem, then you probably have a lifter that is collasping and needs replaced.
When you say the power dies, does the motor shut off or does it stumble for a few seconds and then comes back on?
