Motorcycle Repair: no spark, yamaha yzf600r, coils

Question
I hav a 97 yamaha yzf600r. have checked coils,pick up coil, changed icu and still can not get any spark from it. also when you turn key on the tach jumps to 8 grand for like 5 or 6 seconds then drops back to 0. and it keeps doing it.  please help. thank you

hello tim ,,I would first check to see if yur ignition switch is getting any power from yur battery and i would also check the connections on the battery and from the battery going to the ignition it sounds to me youhave a bad connections are something is ggroundind out.I hope this helps you please leat me know im here if you need more in fo.
