Motorcycle Repair: Clutch problems, gsxr 1100, clutch lever

Question
Hi Mitch I have a 1995 gsxr 1100 that i just bought it runs well ,but when it heats up on hot days the clutch starts slipping. It has a hydraulic assisted clutch. Is there a ajustment for this or do you think maybe the plates are bad? The bike has less than 15000 miles and some aftermarket parts like pipe, cam, carbs, ignition, and air filters. Any help would be appreciated, thanks,Rich

Answer

There is an adjustment ,you need to fill the reservoir on your handle bars then pummp it till it gets hard then on the side of your motor where the hydraulic line goes in you will see a bleeder screw to bleed the cluch slave cylinder. To do this it usaully takes 2 people one to pump the cluch lever and you must not release the clutch lever till after you have opened up the bleeder screw and fluid comes out ,then you tighten the bleeder bsack up and do the same a few times more .this should help unless your clutch is really bad good luck.Hope this helps you let me know ok.
