Motorcycle Repair: 1970 CB100 turn signals stay solid, turn signals, cb100

Question
I just recently picked up a 1970 CB100 and the turn signals do not flash, they
just stay solid. I tried a new blinker relay it was a 6v 3 prong relay. This did
not fix the solid blinkers, in fact the blinkers did not work at all. So my friend
tried hooking up the two wires to various prongs on the three prong relay. All
of a sudden the neutral light was flashing. Could this of messed up the
electrical? and what causes signals to stay solid?

Answer
The blinker should only have 2 wires going to it.  It's on the hot side of the blinker lights and it opens an closes the circuit when it heats up as the current flows through it.  I'd first try to get the right style of flasher unit before I did too much troubleshooting. After that, assuming all of the wires are hooked up correctly, I'd start looking for a bad ground on the turnsignals.

Good Luck
