Motorcycle Repair: cam sensor wires, cam sensor, aftermarket cam

Mike,
It's me again.  So you are telling me that a stock HD cam sensor cannot be run directly, one for power, one for the  trigger and one maybe for ground or VOES.  That it has to go through a stock harness in order to work.  What module are you talking about when you say module.  I know that when you buy an aftermarket cam sensor and coil, say from Crane, for a custom application you can wire them directly and this is what I'm trying to do with the stock cam sensor.

The stock cam senser checks to see where the cam is whne the motor is turning. It has to send a signal to the electronic ignition modual telling it what location the cam is compaired to the motor. The modual then tells the spark plugs when to fire. The other problem you will have is without a VOES or a MAP senser you will not have anyway to tellt he bike to advance the timing.
the after market cam sensor you are refering to probably has the electronic modual built in to it
