Motorcycle Repair: VIN# Location / 1983 FLHT Harley Shovelhead, mental anguish, duplicate title

I've inherited the above bike and I want to sell, but I cannot find the VIN# to obtain a duplicate title as the original is nowhere to be found.  I was told to check where the front end pivots either on the right or left side.  I've checked there to no avail.  I was also told there might also be a sticker on the right hand side of the frame, which I do see, but it's completely covered in black, therefore I cannot read it.  I want this off of my property and I'd like to make some $$$ off of it to compensate for the mental anguish it's caused me. Please help!!!

Look around the neck, where the forks connect to the frame, and there should be a vin number. It might be covered with paint, so it might be tough to see. You can also get the vin number off the side of the motor on the case.
