Motorcycle Repair: XR70R 2002, cam timing, flywheel

Question
HOW DO YOU SET CAM TIMING? I SEE THE TIMING MARK ON CAM SPROCKET, DO I HAVE TO PULL OFF SIDE COVER TO SEE THE OTHER TIMING MARK? A YOUNG FELLOW HAD THE HEAD OFF, MOVED THE MOTOR AND DIDN'T SET CAM TIMING.

Answer
Bill, I'm most familiar with the pre 82 Honda but generally speaking...yes you will have to take off the side cover and find a "T" marked on the flywheel.  That's top dead center on the cylinder.  The cam is then timed when the crank is on top dead center.  I just don't know what is used as a reference for the cam...
sorry.

Sorry for the late response, I've been out of town on vacation.

Rich
