Motorcycle Repair: cb 750 starter, solenoid switch, cb 750

Question
Hi! Do you have any idea what the resistance reading of a starter would be? Mine spins but does not have enough jam to turn over the motor.
Thanks

Answer
Brent,

is your battery in good shape?
You might be losing power through
the wires or magnetic switch (solenoid)
Does the starter work when you run power
directly to it bypassing the solenoid switch?

The starter under load uses about 120 amps
of current. The starter brushes should
be over 5.5 mm long as they are about 12mm new.

Have you tried cleaning the commutator
and checking the brushes, brush springs
and bushings?

Also check the ground and battery cables, connectors
and if bypassing the solenoid helps
it might be the solenoid.
