Motorcycle Repair: 74 yamaha dt100, yamaha dt100, clutch system

Question
My cycle clutch wont disengage Iput a new cable on and adjusted it and that seems to be working properly.I took the cover off and it looks ok. It seemed to be shifting gears ok i took the right cover off and when i drained the oil it looked very low.could that be a reason. The actuater arm looked a little bent to.It wont go into neutral when its running.Any ideas THANKS

Answer
Ian,

I suggest checking your clutch push
rod to make sure it is not bent.
If it was low on oil the clutch plates
could be burned or warped.

You may need to inspect each part of the
clutch system. Start with the actuator
arm on the left side of the bike
and see if the push rod it pushes
on is bent, number 17 here:

If it all looks okay, you may have
to inspect the clutch plates
and make sure everything is
assembled correctly.

Don't overtighten the clutch spring
screws as the aluminum posts
can break off.
Make sure the oil level is correct.

If you adjust the screw on the actuater
arm, give the cable some slack first.
Take up the cable slack last, after
all the other parts are checked and
adjusted.
